Planning

Planning is the key to your retirement.  What you do (or don't do) can mean the difference between a secure retirement and one filled with problems.  Unfortunately, many people don't want to take the small amount of time it takes to begin the planning process.  For those, there is nothing we can do.

If, however, you are ready to learn simple steps you can take to enjoy a secure retirement, we welcome the opportunity to assist you.

The process begins with getting to know each other.  Our free initial consultation will allow us to learn if there are areas where you can improve your situation.  In the initial meeting we discuss:

  • Risk Tolerance (Are you taking too much, or too little based on your age, goals, etc?)
  • Risk Management (Are there ways to "transfer" potential risk to protect you and your family?)
  • Time Horizon (Do you need to plan for 10, 20, or more years?)
  • Legacy Planning (Are you concerned with leaving a legacy to family, friends, church, or charity?)
  • Tax Traps (IRA's and 401k's are full of them for the unaware.)
  • Current Strategies (Are they working or not?)
  • Future Expectations (What can we do now to help you reach future goals?)

We truly believe that an educated client is the best kind of client.  You should understand the basics of your investment and savings choices, thus enabling you to make informed decisions.  In turn, we take the time to help you understand why we make the recommendations we do.

"I have always disliked pressure tactics when it comes to my money," says Mr. Hackett.  "It's important that people know that about me, as that is not the way I work.  However, I am a business man, and I do ask people to make a decision when the time comes.  If it meets your needs, is explained properly, and "feels" right, we'll begin a mutually beneficial relationship.

Areas we look at include:

  • Health - Are there any potential issues that could affect planning?
  • Liquidity - How much money you should have readily available in an emergency?
  • Family - Are others counting on you financially now or in the future?
  • Lifestyle - Are you living the kind of life you want to?  If not, how can we get you there?
  • Income - Are you on the right track so that it's sufficient for your life?
  • Taxes - Are there any ticking time bombs you aren't aware of?
  • Insurance - Are you under, over, or properly insured should something happen?
